This is the second English Edition to be published by the Luisa Piccarreta Center for the Divine Will. The author, of course, is the Servant of God, Luisa Piccarreta, and the original publisher is St. Hannibal Di Francia. At the request of the Archdiocese of Trani, this edition is a translation of the 4th Italian Edition, which St. Hannibal published in the 1920s.
A great amount of effort has gone into this English Edition to not only assure its conformity to the 4th Italian Edition but also to make the language flow well in English. There are quite a few changes in the text compared to our first English Edition, and surprisingly, there are a number of places where the text is more graphic and intimate than in the first English Edition.
There are a total of 248 pages in this edition. Forty-two of these pages are a most beautiful introduction from the heart of St. Hannibal, which are very much worth reading more than once. After each Hour in this new edition is a spiritual Reflection on that Hour. These reflections were not included in our first edition but were published in a separate work, known as the "Companion to the Hours of the Passion." Those familiar with the "Hours" know of the marvelous promises to those who read them, especially when they fuse their wills in the Divine Will.
The front and back covers are strikingly beautiful! The front cover depicts Jesus Crucified at 3 PM on Good Friday, just after the spear was thrust into his side. Rays representing Blood and Water come from his pierced side representing his Divine Mercy, similar to the depiction in the famous Divine Mercy picture. The back cover depicts several scenes of the Passion of Jesus with Luisa seeming to be lost in thought about these sorrowful realities suffered by Our Lord.
